Have you discovered fleas on your cat for the first time and don't know what to do about it? Have you been unsuccessfully trying to deal with a flea infestation in your home and you don't know what to do next? If so, you have come to the right place. Fleas are one of the most common parasite problems that cat owners experience, so don't be ashamed take a seat and read on to learn more about how you can use Frontline Plus on your cat to prevent fleas.
Why Frontline Plus?
When it comes to flea prevention there are lots of different options available. Over the years, I've tried dozens of so-called flea and tick control products to keep my house and pets flea-free but honestly, the results have not been to my satisfaction. Flea bombs, flea shampoos and flea collars usually contain the insecticide called pyrethrin and unfortunately, fleas have now developed a resistance to this ingredient. This means that you can spray your home and apply this harsh chemical to your pet, and have almost no effect on these tiny parasites. Flea control can become expensive and frustrating as you try these products which offer no real solution.
More recently, I have turned to an alternative pet medication as flea control for my cats. Frontline Plus is a product developed by the pharmaceutical brand Merial and has a powerful duo of ingredients which can eliminate fleas within 24 hours. Fipronil and S-methoprene work in combination to kill fleas (at all stages of their life cycle), ticks and mites. Considered one of the most effective flea and tick control products available, Frontline Plus is also long-lasting and side-effects on cats are rare.
Applying Frontline Plus to Your Cat
Frontline Plus is an excellent flea and tick control product, but it needs to be applied correctly to work as it should. The spot-on formula of Frontline Plus is presented in a single-use dosage, which needs to be applied directly to your cat's skin between the shoulder blades. You will need to part the fur on your pet's back using the tip of Frontline Plus applicator to get closer to the skin. Squeeze the entire contents of the Frontline Plus applicator to your cat and then avoid touching that area until the ingredients have had time to dry. It is essential to follow this application procedure with care as the ingredients must make contact with the skin and be absorbed into the cat's oil glands to work. This means that the Frontline Plus is distributed around your cat's body for complete protection from fleas.
