Spike, the rockstar dog featured in the latest US IAMS Naturals Dog Food commercial. Spike is a beautiful Shar-pei, a Chinese breed commonly as the "Roly Dog" from the toilet paper commercial. Shar-Pei's are known for their wrinkles and usually live 10-12 years and can be any solid colour except white. It is as tall as a Boxer, but more stocky in appearance, weighing about 25 kgs.

There are about 700 registered Shar-pei owners in Australia and the breed is recommended for experienced dog owners. Their temperament is dominant and they were traditionally used as fighting and guard dogs. They are stubborn and wary of strangers and need firm dog training to make them easier to manage in a domestic environment.

A Shar-pei requires good dog eye care and dog skin care due to the wrinkles and skin folds. Relevant dog medications and a healthy dog food diet will certainly keep these issues under control and there is no need for dog grooming!
